Authentic
Fishing Tour - JAMAICA MI CRAZY!
The
Authentic fishing tour starts at 8:00am in the morning in a local
fishing village just north of MBJ Airport at
The White House Fishing Village. You will see how the fisherman
handcraft their fishing pots from tree limbs and mesh on your way
to the bay where you will push off to see in a large canoe boat.
The boat is fiberglass with an outboard motor, it has outriggers
hand-crafted from the same tree limbs used to build the fishing
pots. The clips for trolling are also wooden, kind of like close
pins. On your way out to sea, Omar the Captain, will show you how
to check a fish pot with an underwater looking box. Then the trolling
begins! On my first trip we caught four Black Fin Tuna (as seen
in pic). This is a Sushi grade fish that unbeknown to the locals,
that is highly sought out by many anglers across the world. They
are a very common find on these waters. Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Marlin,
and all other big game fish are also possible catches.

FLOYD'S
PELICAN BAR & YS FALLS
Floyds
Pelican Bar is located in Parottee Bay on the south coast of Jamaica.
You will be met on the beach by your
boat captain, and he will take you on a very relaxing ride in a
large canoe. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming right
near the boat. Your "captain" will then make a call to
the bar to find out what the choices for lunch will be...probably
lobster, or fish - small choice, but it's all good.
All the food they serve is caught fresh
right before you eat it. The lobster is a good option if they have
it, but be prepared to wait a long time for it (it's worth it, though).
They remove the lobster from the shell and serve it in a ginger
sauce with vegetables over white rice.
As
far as the bar itself, it has to be the coolest "bar"
in the Caribbean. It's in the middle of a sandbar approximately
one mile off shore. The bar is round in shape, and made completely
of driftwood. Bring a sharp object and you can carve your name in
the floor. It is not a place for older people, because you have
to climb "stairs" made of twisted wood and it can be tricky.
You'll spend about 2 hours there, drinking
red stripe beer, laying on the "dock" area getting sun
and you may go snorkeling if you like.
Bottom line...don't miss it! It could
be one of your best memories in Jamaica.
After the Pelican Bar you are now on
your way through the mountains of St. Elizabeth for your tractor
driven jitney journey. This will take you through the plantation
and horse farm and, on your way to the beautiful Y.S Water fall.
You will love Y.S. Water Fall, it is probably the most beautiful
waterfall in Jamaica. You can climb and or swim at the base of the
falls and enjoy the natural whirl pools as the water creates little
Jacuzzi’s as the river keep flowing. There is also enclosed
an Olympic size river pool set in the middle of this jungle area
for your enjoyment.

ROARING
RIVER, MINERAL SPRINGS & HISTORIC CAVES TOUR
THE ROOTS
A former slave plantation, the Roaring
River Estate near Petersfield in Westmoreland is named for the gushing
waters of the river. Its history is rooted in the sugar industry
of the colonial era, beginning in the late 17th century. It was
owned by the Beckfords of Gloucestershire, one of the first English
families to settle in Jamaica after the island was won from the
Spanish.
Mentioned more than once in the famous
diaries of Samuel Pepys, the Beckford family produced the first
Custos of Kingston, Peter, who became one of the island’s
wealthiest men and went on to serve as Lieutenant-Governor of Jamaica.
One of his descendants, an absentee proprietor, was twice elected
Lord Mayor of London and another found fame as an author of Gothic
novels.
Roaring
River was one of the properties inherited by William Beckford who
died in London in 1789. He had become deeply indebted following
the devastating hurricane of 1780 as was sent to debtor’s
prison in England where he wrote the historic “Descriptive
account of the island of Jamaica.”
This tour begins with a scenic drive
through the countryside into Roaring River. Enjoy cave tours, nature
tours drumming and food and beverages from our Jamaican restaurant
and bar. You will enjoy taking a bath in one or both of the cave's
two healing mineral baths so remember to bring your swim suites
and cameras. Your tour guide in the caves will assist you in taking
pictures and tell you the stories of the river and caves and answer
any questions you may have to ask. Package includes: Round trip

MAROON COUNTRY SEAFOOD TOUR
SHRIMP, FISH, YS FALLS AND PETER TOSH BIRTHPLACE AND STOP AT OBED
CHAMBER’S (ENGLISH SOLDIER) FINAL RESTING PLACE
This
is a tour that offers great sight seeing of our country sides making
stops along to way to educate you on the history, cuisine and culture
of our island home offering you great picture taking opportunities.
See through interior of our island including
where centuries ago escaped slaves were given parts of Jamaica to
rule by the selves after the rebellion.
You will also hear the true story and
see the two separate tomb stones belonging to one English soldier,
Obed Chambers who was beheaded as he rode his horse. His head was
buried where it fell and the body still on his horse in the saddle
buried where it fell, over fifty yards from where the head fell.
Not
far from Black River is Middle Quarters, the only place on the island
to get traditional hot pepper shrimp. It is sold by the bag by women
who stand on the edge of the road, or you can purchase it straight
from the cooking pot at little roadside shacks. The shrimp are actually
crayfish from the Black River. Fishermen catch them in special traps
that are similar to those used by fishermen along Africa’s
Niger River. The skill of trap making is said to have been brought
to the island by African slaves more than 300 years ago.
The tradition of preparing and selling
hot pepper shrimp in Middle Quarters also goes back for decades.
This is the place to go if you want to sample the best Jamaican
hot pepper shrimp.
Departing
the middle quarters you are now on your way through the mountains
of St Elizabeth for your tractor driven jitney journey. This will
take you through the plantation and horse farm and, on your way
to the beautiful Y.S Water fall, be sure to take your camera, swimsuit
and towels along. There are changing rooms and good bathroom facilities

base of the falls and enjoy the natural whirl pools as the water
creates little Jacuzzi’s as the river keep flowing. There
is also enclosed an Olympic size river pool set in the middle of
this jungle area for your enjoyment.
If you've never heard of fried fish
and bammy, you're missing out on a special treat which you will
experience on your way back at Middle Quarters. "Bammy"
is basically like a thick pancake of grated cassava root that is
formed either into balls or flat pancakes and fried in coconut oil.
It is said to originate with the Arawaks Indians and is coming back
into popularity after the tradition almost died out. The flavor
is something like a pancake with a tinge of sourdough to it and
it is a spongy, fluffy yet dense bread with a crispness to the outside
once fried. It is the perfect accompaniment to the plates of fried
fish sold at the roadside stand in Scott's Cove. As you approach
the border between Westmoreland and
St Elizabeth parish, the road will make a sharp bend and suddenly
you'll see a long, curving row of wooden shacks filled with cooks
and mainly locals eating sandwiches of bammy folded around chunks
of fried fish.
After your refreshing and stimulating,
enjoyment there, you are on your journey back to your place of stay,
stopping once more only briefly on the road where Peter Tosh, an
original member of Bob Marley & The Wailers band. Pater tosh
who went on to international fame unfortunately was shot and died,
however his records and tapes featuring his own music are still
being sold all over the world.
You will arrive between
5-6 pm approximately.
Adults US$60
Children 11 yr. and under is half price.

| NEGRIL’S
BEACH, FORT CHARLOTTE & RICK’S CAFÉ SUNSET TOUR
Departing
from Montego Bay where you are picked up at your hotel approximately
10:00 am, your journey to the north coast of Jamaica, we’ll
take you through the town of Montego Bay passing an old British
Fort namely Fort Charles which is located at the former entrance
to the once village now town of Montego Bay.
On going pass our main duty free shopping
area the City Centre Building and then pass the square where you
will see replicas of a scene from our days of slavery and in the
background an old slave house that was used for many various activities
from the purchasing of slaves and to the hangings that later took
place. Our civic centre you will see located nearby and in the past
dignitaries like the Queen of England and Sir Winston Churchill
our former Prime Minister of war.
Continuing
through the town of Montego Bay passing the historical Monument
called the Dome. From this spot fresh spring water flowed year round
and until recently when the entire area was covered up it could
have supplied most of Montego Bay with drinking water. Traveling
on the coast line you then begin to approach some of Jamaica’s
premier hotels, homes of movie stars and other celebrities. The
Kennedy’s and several governors of the United States have
their homes here. These properties are named Round Hill Hotel and
Tryall Estate.
Tryall until a few years ago was host
for the world’s famous Walkers Golf Club tournament. On approaching
the old British town of Lucea you will pass the magnificent Fort
Charlotte which is being restored. Winding further along the north
coast you will pass the little villages like: Mosquito Cove, Bloody
Bay, and Green Island. You finally reach one of the loveliest beaches
in the world - The 7 miles long stretch of white sand, where you
will enjoy facilities of Margarita Ville. There is a bar and restaurant
and bathroom facility available. Lunch is on your own, after enjoying
the beach you are then taken to the Rick’s Café where
you will enjoy cliff jumping and also the facilities whilst watching
the most glorious sunsets of your life.
Be sure to wear soft shoes and be casual
in dress, bring along swim suits, towels and cameras and have a
good time. You will be returned to your hotel before dinner.
Fort
Charlotte, located in Lucea, in the parish of Hanover, was built
in the mid 18th Century by the British for the defence of the North
North Westerly section of the island. It was built during the reign
of King George III of England, and is named after his consort, Charlotte.
The fort was built with a barrack capable of housing 50 men. The
fort had 23 embrasures for 23 guns, 20 of which were mounted.
During the Napoleonic Wars it was thought
that the guns at the fort were insufficient to guard the harbour,
so in 1807, three 24 pounders on traversing carriages were installed
on the seaward side of the fort.
The fort is built of rectangular cut
stone and has several openings toward the sea. Inside the fort is
the remains of the circular base for the rotation of guns which
were placed there so that they could shoot from every possible angle.
The Artillery Store still stands and is made of cutstone. It has
buttesses and a gable ended roof. A section of the fort currently
forms part of the Rusea's High School.

ESTATE RUM TOUR
If
you love rum then you're sure to be fascinated with the famous Appleton
Rum Estate. You'll get an overview of the history of the estate,
get to see how rum is made and sample many different types of rum
along the way. Be sure to also check out the scenery on your journey
to Appleton Rum Estate. The estate comprises of 11,000 acres of
fields in the Nassau valley. The valley sits at the foot of the
Santa Cruz Mountains and is watered by the Black River which flows
through it.
The Appleton Rum Tour
The
tour starts with a video giving an overview of Appleton Rum Estate
and its activities. Next you get to see some remnants from the history
of the estate, including antique equipment and machinery. Two old
sugar cane crushers have been preserved, the estate's donkey is
on hand to give a demonstration of one and guests on the tour are
offered the chance to operate the second one. Your efforts will
no go unrewarded as you will also get to taste some of the freshly
squeezed cane juice.
The next stage of the tour takes you
to the distillery to see the famous rum being distilled. Here you
will get to taste "wet sugar" (aka molasses) and see it
being distilled in giant copper pots.
The
next stage of rum production that you will witness is the aging
house. Here you will see thousands of white oak barrels ageing various
types of rum. Some varieties of rum require three years of aging,
some require up to 30! The final stage of the process you will witness
is the blending. This is where the rums are blended in to the world
famous Appleton flavor.
The most popular part of the tour is
a trip to the tavern where you get the opportunity to sample the
16 varieties of rum produced at Appleton Estate. You even get to
take a mini bottle of rum to savour at home.
Also
on site is a gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs and, of
course, Appleton rum! If you have an appetite for more rum after
the tasting session, there is also a bar on site where food and
drink are available.
History
The Appleton Estate was founded in
1655 and is believed to be the land payment made to Francis Dickson
for his role in the English capture of Jamaica from the Spanish.
His two grandsons, Caleb and Ezekiel, are the earliest known owners
of the estate. It was not until 1749 that the estate began producing
rum. Appleton Rum grew in popularity during World War II when rum
was sought to supplement the insufficient supplies of Whisky on
the Island. Appleton became the rum of choice due to its smoothness
and lightness.
Appleton Rum Estate currently produces
around 10 million liters of rum per year and 160 tons of sugar a
day. Wray and Nephew (the company which makes Appleton Rum) also
owns the New Yarmouth and Holland sugar estates. However, the Appleton
Estate is the largest and most modern in Jamaica.

ZIPLINE ADVENTURE
All
tours start with an awesome "6x6 guided off-road safari tour".
This is not just a quite ride in the park, you better hang on tight
as we travel through the mountainous rainforest and our lush plantation
located at the Great River Adventure Center. The vehicles we have
are called 6x6 Pinzgauers, they go over and through anything.
Our
tour is the longest combined lengths of ziplines in the Caribbean
and our last zipline known as “Big Timba” is the longest
single zip in the Caribbean 1,600 feet. We warm up and build your
confidence on zip #1 which is 250’ long, low to the ground,
and is a very gentle ride. Then we step it up as we go getting longer,
higher and faster. The rides are exhilarating not scary it’s
like flying gracefully and under control above and through the tree
canopy. We pride ourselves on how safe our ziplines are and how
safety orientated the guides are. When zipping you are attached
to 2 Steel Cables each can handle 23,000 lbs. (Length of the ziplines
- 250’, 750’, 850’, 900’, 1,600’)
Enhancing this canopy tour is a 250’ Jungle Walking Bridge
- Indiana Jones style but much stronger. All guests are attached
to a safety cable while traveling across on the bridge.
