FIRST STOP - Spanish Town
Spanish Town, built by the Spanish after Sevilla Nueva (New Seville) was abandoned, dates from 1534. It was first known as Villa de la Vega, later St. Jago de la Vega and then Spanish Town. The town is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Jamaica. It was the capital of Spanish Jamaica from 1534 to 1655. When the English captured the island in 1655, Spanish Town remained the capital of the island until 1872 when this status was conferred on Kingston. Spanish Town still possesses memories of the past with its many historical buildings. The Emancipation Square is generally acclaimed to be the most impressive of its kind in the West Indies.
These are some of the buildings that Spanish town is consisted of:
Old King's House: In 1762, it was official residence for the Governor. In 1838, the proclamation of the abolition of slavery was read from the steps of King's House. The structure was destroyed by fire in 1925 leaving only the main eastern facade and the stables.
Old House of Assembly: This two storey brick structure was constructed around 1762. When the capital of the island was transferred to Kingston in 1872, the Assembly met at Headquarters House in Kingston. The structure now houses the offices and Mayor's Parlor of the St. Catherine Parish Council.
Rodney's Memorial: This elaborate edifice was created in honor of the celebrated British Admiral Lord Rodney. The Memorial, designed by the famous English sculptor John Bacon in 1801, commemorates Rodney's victory over a French fleet that had attempted to invade the island in 1782. Rodney is made to resemble a Roman Emperor.
Old Barracks Building: The Military Barracks was erected in 1791 to house both soldiers and officers. It was built from a grant of 15, 000 pounds sterling voted by the House of Assembly.
St. Catherine District Prison: The Prison was built in 1714 from the proceeds of the will of George Fletcher. It serves as one of the largest prisons in the island.
Phillippo Baptist Church: The Church is named in honour of its first pastor, Reverend James Mursell Phillippo. He was a Baptist missionary who became one of the greatest advocates for Negro Improvement during Slavery.
Cast Iron Bridge: The Cast Iron Bridge was erected in 1801 at a cost of 4, 000 pounds. It was designed by Thomas Wilson of England and manufactured by Walker and Company of Rotherham in England. The bridge spans 29.7 metres and stands as the oldest iron bridge of its kind in the western hemisphere. NO ENTRANCE FEE.

You are transported by air-conditioned mini bus by your professional tour guide/driver who will give you all the information on Jamaica and places of interest along your scenic drive by the Caribbean Sea headed for the old British town of Falmouth which was named by the British hundreds of years ago including the influence of the Spaniards who landed in Jamaica under Christopher Columbus in 1492.
Today Falmouth boasts as their port of call is the third largest natural harbor in the world. The sheltered deep-water anchorage and the recently built landing facilities for tourists arriving to the port by tender have made Falmouth cruise port one of the UK's favorite cruising destinations, newly constructed facilities and officially opened March 2011. Here your adventurous tour becomes really exciting as you will see this magnificent port located in the heart of downtown. You will also see the Falmouth Court House, a magnificent structure no doubt, of Georgian design, which was built in the year 1815. Time is allowed for you to visit the shopping area for you to choose what you would like to purchase including souvenirs, etc.
You then will visit the Jamaican local food, fruits and general produce market. After this brief visit, the tour continues to one of Jamaica's largest rivers, namely, Martha Brea. This river after hundreds of years flows from the rain forests of Jamaica through the mountains and valleys passing an old Persian water wheel founded in 1799 that has a history of its own. The name, Martha Brae, is a misinterpretation of the Spanish name for the river, the Rio Mateberion. An alternative history of the name is that it comes from the legend of Martha Brae, a Taino witch who was tortured by Spanish settlers until she divulged the location of a stash of gold hidden in a cave along the path of the river. After divulging the location of the gold she changed the course of the river, killing the Spanish and blocking up the cave, where the gold is hidden to this day. Passed
on by mouth the legend still lives on.

Authentic Sea Fishing - JAMAICA MI CRAZY - Blackfin Tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Barracuda!s
The Authentic fishing tour starts at 8:00am in the morning in a local fishing village just north of MBJ Airport at
The White House Fishing Village. You will see how the fisherman handcraft their fishing pots from tree limbs and mesh on your way to the bay where you will push off to see in a large canoe boat. The boat is fiberglass with an outboard motor, it has outriggers hand-crafted from the same tree limbs used to build the fishing pots. The clips for trolling are also wooden, kind of like close pins. On your way out to sea, Omar the Captain, will show you how to check a fish pot with an underwater looking box. Then the trolling begins! On my first trip we caught four Black Fin Tuna (as seen in pic). This is a Sushi grade fish that unbeknown to the locals, that is highly sought out by many anglers across the world. Pelican Bar, Boat Ride, Plantation Tour & YS Water Falls
Floyds Pelican Bar is located in Parottee Bay on the south coast of Jamaica.
You will be met on the beach by your boat captain, and he will take you on a very relaxing ride in a large canoe. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming right near the boat. Your "captain" will then make a call to the bar to find out what the choices for lunch will be...probably lobster, or fish - small choice, but it's all good.
All the food they serve is caught fresh right before you eat it. The lobster is a good option if they have it, but be prepared to wait a long time for it (it's worth it, though). They remove the lobster from the shell and serve it in a ginger sauce with vegetables over white rice.
As far as the bar itself, it has to be the coolest "bar" in the Caribbean. It's in the middle of a sandbar approximately one mile off shore. The bar is round in shape, and made completely of driftwood. Bring a sharp object and you can carve your name in the floor. It is not a place for older people, because you have to climb "stairs" made of twisted wood and it can be tricky.
You'll spend about 2 hours there, drinking red stripe beer, laying on the "dock" area getting sun and you may go snorkeling if you like.
Bottom line...don't miss it! It could be one of your best memories in Jamaica.
After the Pelican Bar you are now on your way through the mountains of St. Elizabeth for your tractor driven jitney journey. This will take you through the plantation and horse farm and, on your way to the beautiful Y.S Water fall. You will love Y.S. Water Fall, it is probably the most beautiful waterfall in Jamaica. You can climb and or swim at the base of the falls and enjoy the natural whirl pools as the water creates little Jacuzzi’s as the river keep flowing. There is also enclosed an Olympic size river pool set in the middle of this jungle area for your enjoyment.
From Montego Bay:
- US$94.99 per person
- Children 12 years and under, half price
- Price will decrease with each additional person over two persons.
- Price includes:
- Entrance to YS Falls
- All transportation on land and sea.

THE ROOTS where Alex Haley the author of "ROOTS" the movie about slavery, once lived in a village named Withorn.
A former slave plantation, the Roaring River Estate near Petersfield in Westmoreland is named for the gushing waters of the river. Its history is rooted in the sugar industry of the colonial era, beginning in the late 17th century. It was owned by the Beckfords of Gloucestershire, one of the first English families to settle in Jamaica after the island was won from the Spanish.
Mentioned more than once in the famous diaries of Samuel Pepys, the Beckford family produced the first Custos of Kingston, Peter, who became one of the island’s wealthiest men and went on to serve as Lieutenant-Governor of Jamaica. One of his descendants, an absentee proprietor, was twice elected Lord Mayor of London and another found fame as an author of Gothic novels.
Roaring River was one of the properties inherited by William Beckford who died in London in 1789. He had become deeply indebted following the devastating hurricane of 1780 as was sent to debtor’s prison in England where he wrote the historic “Descriptive account of the island of Jamaica.”

Country Country And Maroon Area, YS Falls Plantation Tour And Lunch, Peter Tosh Birth-place
This is a tour that offers great sight seeing of our country sides making stops along to way to educate you on the history, cuisine and culture of our island home offering you great picture taking opportunities.
See through interior of our island including where centuries ago escaped slaves were given parts of Jamaica to rule by the selves after the rebellion.
You will also hear the true story and see the two separate tomb stones belonging to one English soldier, Obed Chambers who was beheaded as he rode his horse. His head was buried where it fell and the body still on his horse in the saddle buried where it fell, over fifty yards from where the head fell.
Not far from Black River is Middle Quarters, the only place on the island to get traditional hot pepper shrimp. It is sold by the bag by women who stand on the edge of the road, or you can purchase it straight from the cooking pot at little roadside shacks. The shrimp are actually crayfish from the Black River. Fishermen catch them in special traps that are similar to those used by fishermen along Africa’s Niger River. The skill of trap making is said to have been brought to the island by African slaves more than 300 years ago.
The tradition of preparing and selling hot pepper shrimp in Middle Quarters also goes back for decades. This is the place to go if you want to sample the best Jamaican hot pepper shrimp.
Departing the middle quarters you are now on your way through the mountains of St Elizabeth for your tractor driven jitney journey. This will take you through the plantation and horse farm and, on your way to the beautiful Y.S Water fall, be sure to take your camera, swimsuit and towels along. There are changing rooms and good bathroom facilities available.
If you've never heard of fried fish and bammy, you're missing out on a special treat which you will experience on your way back at Middle Quarters. "Bammy" is basically like a thick pancake of grated cassava root that is formed either into balls or flat pancakes and fried in coconut oil. It is said to originate with the Arawaks Indians and is coming back into popularity after the tradition almost died out. The flavor is something like a pancake with a tinge of sourdough to it and it is a spongy, fluffy yet dense bread with a crispness to the outside once fried. It is the perfect accompaniment to the plates of fried fish sold at the roadside stand in Scott's Cove. As you approach the border between Westmoreland and St Elizabeth parish, the road will make a sharp bend and suddenly you'll see a long, curving row of wooden shacks filled with cooks and mainly
locals eating sandwiches of bammy folded around chunks of fried fish.
After your refreshing and stimulating, enjoyment there, you are on your journey back to your place of stay, stopping once more only briefly on the road where Peter Tosh, an original member of Bob Marley & The Wailers band. Pater tosh who went on to international fame unfortunately was shot and died, however his records and tapes featuring his own music are still being sold all over the world.
You will arrive between 5-6 pm approximately.

NEGRIL BEACH AT MARGARITAVLLE, FORT CHARLOTTE & RICK’S CAFÉ SUNSET TOUR
Departing from Montego Bay where you are picked up at your hotel approximately 10:00 am, your journey to the north coast of Jamaica, we’ll take you through the town of Montego Bay passing an old British Fort namely Fort Charles which is located at the former entrance to the once village now town of Montego Bay.
On going pass our main duty free shopping area the City Centre Building and then pass the square where you will see replicas of a scene from our days of slavery and in the background an old slave house that was used for many various activities from the purchasing of slaves and to the hangings that later took place. Our civic centre you will see located nearby and in the past dignitaries like the Queen of England and Sir Winston Churchill our former Prime Minister of war.
Continuing through the town of Montego Bay passing the historical Monument called the Dome. From this spot fresh spring water flowed year round and until recently when the entire area was covered up it could have supplied most of Montego Bay with drinking water. Traveling on the coast line you then begin to approach some of Jamaica’s premier hotels, homes of movie stars and other celebrities. The Kennedy’s and several governors of the United States have their homes here. These properties are named Round Hill Hotel and Tryall Estate.
Tryall until a few years ago was host for the world’s famous Walkers Golf Club tournament. On approaching the old British town of Lucea you will pass the magnificent Fort Charlotte which is being restored. Winding further along the north coast you will pass the little villages like: Mosquito Cove, Bloody Bay, and Green Island. You finally reach one of the loveliest beaches in the world - The 7 miles long stretch of white sand, where you will enjoy facilities of Margarita Ville. Fort Charlotte, located in Lucea, in the parish of Hanover, was built in the mid 18th Century by the British for the defence of the North North Westerly section of the island. It was built during the reign of King George III of England, and is named after his consort, Charlotte. The fort was built with a barrack capable of housing 50 men. The fort had 23 embrasures for 23 guns, 20 of which were mounted.
During the Napoleonic Wars it was thought that the guns at the fort were insufficient to guard the harbour, so in 1807, three 24 pounders on traversing carriages were installed on the seaward side of the fort.
The fort is built of rectangular cut stone and has several openings toward the sea. Inside the fort is the remains of the circular base for the rotation of guns which were placed there so that they could shoot from every possible angle. The Artillery Store still stands and is made of cutstone. It has buttesses and a gable ended roof. A section of the fort currently forms part of the Rusea's High School.
Adults: US$54.99 per person

History
The Appleton Estate was founded in 1655 and is believed to be the land payment made to Francis Dickson for his role in the English capture of Jamaica from the Spanish. His two grandsons, Caleb and Ezekiel, are the earliest known owners of the estate. It was not until 1749 that the estate began producing rum. Appleton Rum grew in popularity during World War II when rum was sought to supplement the insufficient supplies of Whisky on the Island. Appleton became the rum of choice due to its smoothness and lightness.
Appleton Rum Estate currently produces around 10 million liters of rum per year and 160 tons of sugar a day. Wray and Nephew (the company which makes Appleton Rum) also owns the New Yarmouth and Holland sugar estates. However, the Appleton Estate is the largest and most modern in Jamaica.
